Arena Design & Construction, from the bottom up ...
The Arena Separating Layer preserves the integrity of the arena base and subsoil, prevents horizontal migration of the arena base or the arena footing layer, while preventing the intermingling of the footing layer and the subsoil or the arena base.

This permanent separation layer is the critical portion of the design, as it renders the entire arena design + construction a permanency of both structural integrity and durability.

Without a permanent separation layer, any arena's subsoil and/or base mediums will inevitably become intermingled with the sand footing layer.
When that happens - the corruption of  your footing layer - the entire arena must again be completely reconstructed -  from the dirt, up.

For a high-performance, long-lasting arena, this separation layer must also be water-permeable in order to allow all-weather riding year round.
Arena Construction Separation Layer - correctly designed and executed will permanently preserve the integrity of the arena base, as well as preventing corruption of the footing layer above it. Must also be water-permeable, to prevent puddling and pooling on the outdoor arena surface.
