Arena Design & Construction, from the bottom up ...
The Arena Footing Layer only begins with the correct sand type, mineral makeup, sizing, compaction/disturbance levels, percentages and blending, etc.
If you goal is a high-performance arena, one which:
is equal to or superior to any other arena in your state or region,
and is of a sufficient quality that you may host fEI international or national championship competitions, cups, Grand Prix or CSIO 4* events,
then you may wish to consider enhancing and perfecting the footing.
Please note that we do not attempt to "enhance" poorly designed arenas,
nor do we subscribe to the "throwing good money after bad" self-proclaimed footing experts
such as hawking an expensive additive or treatment - to "fix" an exactly incorrect type of sand,
which is similar to offering a brand new Mercedes paint job on a rusted-out 1982 Yugo:
it will look nice long enough for your check to clear,
but don't expect performance or durability out of such superficial, ill-advised treatments.
And again, for a high-performance, long-lasting arena, this Footing Layer must also be water-permeable in order to allow all-weather riding year round.
